Thus to characterize the position of a university college professor as a teaching job is only half right. Of course it is a teaching job, but it is at least half a research job. And for university positions, candidates' teaching abilities are seldom considered in any but a cursory way.
How long is a semester, anyway? You know, it's the only life you've got, the only time you'll ever take this course. So concentrate on the subject matter; that's what the course is about.
